Legionnaires Disease Victims Receive Settlement

Stoke-on-Trent Legionnaires Disease Victims Receive Substantial Settlement

Above is a recent headline referring to the settlement of a Legionnaires Disease outbreak that happened three years ago.  We are notifying you to reinforce what we have been saying for long time ~ some would say, preaching.  That is, to be aware of the Legionella bug!  Legionella is alive and well and ready to leap into action if it has the right surroundings to flourish.
In this case, above, Legionnaires Disease was contracted by people near, not in, a hot tub, which was obviously not treated properly.  It must be remembered that three people died and another fourteen were infected.
Anywhere where there is a possibility of an atomised spray of water there is a potential risk if the system does not have anti-Legionella precautions in place.
The greatest risk of Legionnaires Disease is usually from a shower, so make sure your stored hot water is at the right temperature and the shower heads are descaled and sanitised regularly.
We sell a combined acid / biocide which is ideal for this purpose.
Also, if you are concerned about the safety of the water in your hot tub or shower we can test it for Legionella and other harmful bugs.
