  • Another Legionella warning !

Another Legionella warning ! You are probably fed up with these Legionella warnings but there is another aspect to Legionella prevention that may not be widely known. • Water storage tanks and summer holidays

Water storage tanks and the summer holidays It is possible that you could have one or more water storage tanks in the roof, often where you cannot easily see them.  The water tanks should be inspected and if necessary, cleaned.  With the summer holidays approaching, this could be a good time for inspecting and cleaning the water storage tanks. We can do this. Many water treatment companies do not like this sort of work.  We do . . . and …

  • The water tank with its own carpet

Yes.  A water tank with its own carpet ! Yes.  The water tank had its own carpet!!  I came across a water tank that instead of a proper cover, a carpet was placed over the tank.  Over many years the carpet had gradually slipped into the water and had dispersed. The contaminated water was being used by students in the student accommodation.  The tank was obviously immediately condemned for the safety of the students. Students are famous, or infamous, for …

  • Have you got biofilms?

What are biofilms?   Biofilms are layers of usually, harmless bacteria found inside water pipes and on water tank sides. Sometimes, you can touch the inside wall of a tank and it feels “slippery”.  This is due to the presence of biofilms. Biofilms do not usually cause a problem but they can act as a nutrient for other bacteria, for example, legionella. If biofilms are found in a tank, they can be removed by chlorination which we can organise for you. …

  • Water Fountains and Legionnaires Disease

Is it time to stop worrying about Legionnaires Disease? – No! • Water or Beer : That is the Question

Water or beer ?   On the subject of water ~ or the lack of it, recent studies have shown that it can be as dangerous to drive whilst dehydrated as it is to drive whilst under the influence of alcohol. Apparently your judgement can be seriously affected and this can have an adverse effect on braking, speed perception and lane drifting. • Try our new Showerhead Cleaner and Descaler Gel in the fight against Legionella

Many of our customers use our showerhead cleaner and descaler liquid and have done so for some time.  This works well and they keep ordering more, which is a good sign. We recently chlorinated a twenty year old accommodation block with two hundred rooms and noticed that there was a lot of scale on the taps.  We were asked to descale and sanitise the taps because bacteria, eg Legionella, can hide under the scale and multiply. Our liquid showerhead cleaner was not …
